ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Me
Cindy Ann Kilgo is an Associate Professor of Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Student Affairs at Indiana University. Kilgo is also a faculty affiliate with The Kinsey Institute. Additionally, Kilgo coordinates the Graduate Certificate in Institutional Research. Their research areas include high-impact educational practices, the college experience for minoritized student populations, and the facilitation of institutional change processes toward more inclusive and equitable campus environments. Kilgo's research has been published in the Journal of College Student Development, Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Research in Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, The Journal of Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Journal of Homosexuality, Journal of Diversity in Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, and The Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, among other publication outlets. Their book, Supporting Success for LGBTQ+ Students: Tools for Inclusive Campus Practice, was released in October 2020. Kilgo was named the recipient of the 2021 Association for the Study of Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø (ASHE) Early Career Award and a 2022 recipient of the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award.
Kilgo is currently wrapping up data collection on a Spencer Foundation funded three-year, longitudinal mixed methods study, Thriving in College: A National Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Students, exploring how LGBTQ+ students thrive in college (alongside colleagues Jodi Linley at the University of Iowa and Alex Lange at Colorado State University). They are also engaged in a variety of studies using large-scale quantitative datasets to examine collegiate experiences and outcomes for minoritized student populations through critical quantitative analyses.
Kilgo served as the Interim Co-Director for the National Survey of Student Engagement from January 2022 to July 2023. They completed their Ph.D. in Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Student Affairs from The University of Iowa, M.Ed. in Higher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina, and B.S. in Psychology from Georgia Southern University.
