Our accelerated, online program can be completed in as few as 12 months for Secondary ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø or 18 months for Special ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. It's perfect if you have a bachelor’s degree in another field and are considering a long-term career change. If you are already teaching on an emergency license, you can continue serving in your own classroom while completing your field experiences.
Both program tracks enable you to apply up to 12 Transition to Teaching credits toward the new online M.S.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Special ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø TTT students may also apply their credits toward the M.S.Ed. in Special ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø or our unique and highly marketable IDOE approved Dyslexia Graduate Certificate.

The Graduate Studies Office will accept unofficial transcripts and self-reported test scores for admission reviews. Any admission made with these documents would be conditioned on receipt of official documents, which should be provided as soon as possible.
If you are currently enrolled or have applied in the past year, you are eligible for a reduced application fee of $35.

The Transition to Teaching (TTT) Secondary ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø program prepares you for a single Indiana teaching license that covers both junior high/middle school and high school. Your license will include a specified content field depending on your program of study and any license additions you pursue.
The Secondary Content Area test code is noted in parentheses in the list below.

The Transition to Teaching (TTT) Special ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø program leads to an initial practitioner’s license in Indiana in Exceptional Needs: Mild Intervention (Preschool – Grade 12). Teacher candidates must complete the required 24-credit hours of coursework (including field experiences and student teaching), earn CPR/AED/Heimlich certification, complete Suicide Prevention Training, and pass the applicable Praxis licensing exams:
Praxis content exam must be passed by clinical experience/observation term.
Secondary ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø
One semester (M500) fall term, flexibly completed while serving as a teacher of record or aide in a PK-12 school setting. Traditional full-time students: 2 days a week (12 hours) in a convenient school setting.
Special ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø
Two semesters (M501); requires 12 hours of weekly observation.
Note: For both programs, flexible arrangements are made for those already teaching on an emergency license or serving as support staff (e.g. paraprofessionals and aides).
10 weeks of fulltime student teaching in the final semester. Those already teaching serve in their own classroom and aides/paraprofessionals can flexibly complete this with principal and IU Supervisor approval.
