Cuenca appointed to AACTE Board of Directors

Alexander Cuenca has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø for a three-year term starting next year.

Cuenca, Associate Dean for Accreditation, said he is deeply honored to join the AACTE Board of Directors and grateful for the opportunity to serve an organization that plays such an important role in advancing educator preparation in the United States.

“This appointment is especially meaningful to me because teacher preparation and public education are navigating an increasingly complex and politically contentious environment. I see this appointment as an opportunity to use my experiences in teacher education research, accreditation, and institutional improvement to ensure that educator preparation has a strong voice in the national conversations shaping education policy and the teaching profession,” he added.

During his term starting in March 2027, Cuenca will have the opportunity to contribute to AACTE’s governance and strategic direction alongside other educator preparation leaders from across the country. This includes contributing to discussions and decisions about AACTE’s strategic direction and helping the organization respond to the changing environment confronting educator preparation.
